Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds has stayed there – and played golf on one of its two courses – while over here to watch Wrexham, the football club he bought three years ago. The Spa is part of Carden Park’s swish 1,000-acre estate near Chester. The three hot tubs were large enough for several people and warm enough to fight off the chill in the air.Īfter being fully relaxed and recharged we sloped into the Elements restaurant for afternoon tea, a three-tier extravaganza of delicate finger sandwiches, beautiful cakes and a lovely fat scone. To start, Tim and I took advantage of the unseasonably pleasant sunshine to explore the outdoors. It’s stacked up a string of prestigious awards since it opened in 2020 at a cost of £10million, including the world’s Luxury Destination Spa and Best Country House Hotel Spa. The Spa is a pretty special place – and it’s not just me who thinks so. As it was, I wished we’d had even longer. When the Cheshire hotel had suggested partner Tim and I tried a half-day Garden Experience I’d wondered what we were going to do for all that time. The Spa at Carden offered up an elegant menu of indoor experiences designed to relax, invigorate and surprise – plus a beautiful garden with hot tubs, pool, its own glass-fronted sauna, a fire pit and a series of heated pods. Salt steam room, tepidarium, bio sauna, vitality pool… I’d never realised there were so many ways to get wet, hot and sweaty at a spa until I visited Carden Park.
